Flip Hue is a two-sided card game. The goal of the game is to collect a hand of 5 cards that match one of two Faction colors, either in a player’s hand or on the backside of another player’s hand.
Universal Rules
Flip Hue plays a little differently than most card games so let's get some basic rules out of the way:
- You do not get to look at the backside of your hand during play. It's a secret from you.
- Any time you draw a card from the draw pile the bottom faces towards you, just like drawing a card from a regular poker deck.
- When discarding a card, you can place it down on either side.
- If you give or take a card from another player, you always see the color facing you. Do not flip the card.
- If a tie occurs, the active player will win. Otherwise, the next player that would take their turn that is tied wins.
- If the draw deck runs out of cards, immediately shuffle the discard pile and it becomes the new draw deck.
Setup
FACTION CARD
Each player is dealt one card - this is their Faction Card. Each player gets to look at both sides of their Faction Card but keeps the bottom side a secret from other players. If a player is dealt a Faction Card that has the same color on both sides or a Flip Card on either side, discard it and deal another. Repeat this process if necessary. The Faction card is not used in game and stays in front of each player. The two colors of the faction card are now their color options as a win condition. Deal each player 5 cards. This is the only time players will get to see the backside of their hand. The bottom faces towards the player. |
